I was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the oldest of 3 girls,  so being the wisest with leadership tendencies came naturally to me as I spent my childhood plaguing my younger sisters.

I met my husband, Gary Falkiewicz at a deaf bowling league. I was learning Sign Language and he was a deaf guy socializing and bowling.  A few years later, with Labor day and winter approaching,  we drove south with a carnival in my Dad’s 21 foot RV.

While on the road Gary asked me to marry him. No way was I going to get plowed down with that unpronounceable, impossible last name, so when we married, we took his Falk ‘n added the er from my Miller.  Thus came about Falkner. It seemed a good name for a wannabe writer.

After a few weeks in Florida, we left the carnival and headed north. We ran out of money and gas while driving through Tampa, so we parked on Kennedy Avenue and stayed there. I found a job waitressing the next day, and by Christmas we had saved enough for an apartment in an area of town called suitcase city.

We married in the Spring and my daughter Naomi was born a year and a half later, to be followed a few years later by her brother Brennan.  Three years later I took in foster children, and this experience led to my first book  I Would Be Loved. I will be sharing chapters from this book – but not exactly. You will be seeing never before read chapters from my new and improved version of “Loved.” I would be Loved is my favorite, but my bestselling book is The Magic of Writing: How to write and publish the book that is inside you. I wrote this book at the request of several people who were more interested in how I wrote than they were the social issues I wrote about. I’m glad they pushed me in this direction, as it’s great knowing I’m helping people improve their writing. God knows I needed it when I first started, so I wrote the book that I wish I had had.

So, here YOU are, visiting my webpage/blog and wondering what you will gain from it. I will try to give you a few new and enlightening ideas relating to some of my favorite topics: mental health and writing. I may also throw in some biology or anthropology, and maybe a bit of politics if it won’t get me into too much trouble.  Most of all, I’ll do my best to entertain and make it worth your valuable time to come here.
